Acme Synthetic Chemicals was established in 1970. The focus initially was on import substitution. Acme developed Chromatographic Adsorbents such as Silica Gel and Alumina, of international quality standards. Acme then added High purity Lipid Chemicals and High purity GC standards. Having developed insights into Oils and Fats Chemistry Acme focused on derivatives. Among oils and fats Castor oil was chosen as the focus area because India has established itself as the largest producer of Castor Oil. Acme standardized technology, developed totally in-house, for continuous cracking of Castor oil, for the first time in India. The current manufacturing capacity for Castor cracking derivatives is - Undecylenic Acid 1000 tons per annum and Heptaldehyde 700 tons per annum. A whole basket of Castor oil derivatives based on these two products, such as their salts, alcohols, aldehydes, esters etc have been added over the years.
Today Acme?s activities can be grouped mainly around Chromatographic adsorbents, Perfumery ingredients, Speciality Chemicals mainly based on oils and fats, Castor oil derivatives, High purity lipids and high purity difficult to purify fatty acids and their derivatives. All these products have a variety of application in various industries.
